Hazel Motes (Nine Songs that Suck, 1992)

about

A bunch of songs I recorded by myself after deciding I didn't want to be in a band anymore. I was really shy about my (lack of) singing ability, and buried the vocals.

This is about the main character in a Flannery O'Connor book (Wise Blood). I thought it was deep at the time.

lyrics

Stumbling [inaudible mumbles] yourself a lie
Hope to god it's true when you die
Fool yourself convinced it's just a lie
Hope to god it's true when you die

If there's no bottom to your eyes
They hold more

Walk the streets with rocks in your shoes
Who's to win when we can only lose
Prove yourself with rocks in your shoes
Who's to win when we can only lose

If there's no bottom to your eyes
They hold more

Hope to god it's true when you die
Hope to god

If there's no bottom to your eyes
They hold more
